• If you or your team are SOLO users under the ESP integration: please be aware that, effective starting in November, we will charge your credit card on file for all charges going forward. With the onboarding of Aurora for all of our valued partners, SOLO will only be available upon request as a 100% pay per proposal opportunity. ESP will no longer offer SOLO at a discounted price. We will also discontinue the online Proposal Request feature (Everbright & Sunrun) in the coming weeks, due to the superior feature available through Aurora.

  Key Details:
  

  • The promotional period for the "Fall 2024 $500 Affiliate Customer Referral Promotion" will end on October 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. MST. After this date, no new referrals can be retroactively tagged to projects, and no new projects will be eligible for consideration.
  • Effective immediately, inactive referral promotions, where the Promotion Period has ended, are no longer eligible for tagging.
  • Existing referrals, associated with every Promotional Period, that qualify for payment by December 31, 2024, will be processed, provided they meet eligibility requirements.
  • Sunrun shall not issue any Referral Rewards beginning January 1, 2025.

SOLO Will Be Charged Monthly, November Onwards

• If you or your team are SOLO users under the ESP integration, please be aware that effective November 1st we will charge your credit card on file for all charges going forward from that date. Any previous promotions or exemptions are being discontinued as we transition to Aurora for all sales teams (because it's less expensive and more powerful).
• If you wish to retain SOLO access for your teams, but fail to pay your monthly bill for any reason, access will be suspended until you can catch up on any and all amounts due. And you could use Aurora in the meantime if that happens!

     TPW3 Pause & Project Switch Form 

  • As you have heard, Tesla Powerwall 3 is currently in high demand and Tesla has stated there are long lead times nationwide. We have paused all new PW3 sales until we have a confirmed supply, which is expected to take several months. 
     
  • If you have customers or projects that are willing to switch to a closely-equivalent system size with readily-available products such as Enphase, fill out this Project Switch form! Your assigned PM on the job will get the task to make the adjustments and get your project moving again.
     
  • Remember, if your homeowners don't want to switch because they really really want the Tesla brand, they will have to wait with everyone else

  SolarInsure "Total" Coverage is Available!

• We're excited to offer the new 30/30 coverage through SolarInsure on PV + Battery systems! This is available in Quickbase as an adder selection, you can choose either PV or PV & Battery ("Total") on your systems and it will automatically calculate the pricing. Training & Aurora availability coming soon!

Battery Selection in Enfin for Best Pricing & Recent UBills

  Also remember that you MUST provide a utility bill from the last 90 days (previous 3 months)! Not last year, not 6 months old, it MUST be dated less than 90 days prior to contract date.

Los Angeles County Interior Battery Requirements

• Based on this memorandum from the Fire Prevention Division of Los Angeles County, we are pausing installing batteries in garages throughout LA County until further notice. Because there are no approved heat alarms on the market at this time, we are advising against placing batteries inside attached garages or structures with designated living space inside. We are working on a solution to serve homeowners who are under the governance of the LACoFD.
   
  Note that this applies to any homes in the County jurisdiction, not inside city limits as their AHJ (i.e. "City of").

Sunrun ACH Autopay Enrollment

• Starting October 16, 2024, all new Sunrun opportunities will require ACH Autopay enrollment to receive Sunrun Approval (SRA). This change aims to improve customer experience, increase commitment, and reduce default rates. ACH enrollment will provide a 5% discount on monthly payments, already reflected in the pricing.

New: SolarInsure "Total" PV + Battery Coverage for 30 Years!

• ESP has completed recertification to offer the new "Total" package with SolarInsure! We expect to roll this out very soon, available on all purchases (Loan or Cash jobs) with solar and battery included. Keep an eye out for additional details!

• As a reminder of some of the key benefits of SolarInsure, the 30-year limited warranty has a $0 deductible, so homeowners pay nothing even if the manufacturer defaults. Claims can easily be made online, and are backed by an A+ rated insurance carrier. If your customer sells their home, it also transfers to the new owners for no cost!

• Important note: the Solar-Only coverage will still be available on Enphase systems, but not on Tesla Powerwall 3, as those are a hybrid battery-inverter and require Total coverage.

  EverBright: Minimum FICO is 700 Starting 10/18

• EverBright will be raising the minimum allowed FICO score to 700 as of October 18th. Keep this in mind when you are applying with homeowners.

 Nationwide Tesla Backlog: +1-4 Months on Powerwalls

• Tesla Powerwall 3 is currently in high demand and Tesla has stated there are long lead times nationwide. We're closely monitoring the situation and hoping that it gets better sooner, but unfortunately any jobs you sell with Powerwall 3 will experience extended install timelines.
• Make sure you're giving homeowners the clear expectation: if they really want the Tesla brand, they will have to wait with everyone else! We will be providing specific estimates on individual jobs as they are prioritized in our install scheduling queue.

QCell  430W Available Now!

• We've secured the 430W Q-Tron panels from our partners at QCell! These are available now for a small 3-cent premium panel adder. Our standard base panel wattage of 410W is still available for no adder. Check out the spec sheet here!

New Text Support Line for Enfin!

• You can now text Enfin at (717) 853-1183‬ for your questions about Enfin TPO or Loan products. We'll also be making it easy to apply directly through Aurora in the next few weeks. Make sure you watch our Enfin webinar recap from earlier this year!

New AI SalesBot - Meet Sunny!

• When you use our Live Chat option on joinesp.com, select the "Self Service (Bot)" choice to start chatting with our new AI Sunny! She's a helpful robot that checks the Knowledge Base and other resources for you to get the links and answers you need promptly.

• This is brand new, and we're asking for your help to train up the bot to be the very best version. Just hop in there and start asking away! We'll use that data to train and improve the responses.
   
• Ideally, this will serve you when you need help anytime with quick links to forms, docs, SOP's or other answers that might take a person longer to look up. Eventually we will train it to be project-specific and even able to take certain actions, but for now we just want it to be smart and super quick! California Service Territory Update

• ESP is discontinuing service in the out-of-bounds territories in California as shown on this map. To better serve and speed up installs on the 99% of jobs inside our standard coverage, we've made the call to remove these areas. Less than 1% of our jobs landed in the Outside territories, but they always require extra attention and resources, due to the challenges of deploying people and products to the far reaches of the state. We want to focus our service and staff on the areas where we know we can deliver a great experience.

No More "SOLAR ONLY" Jobs in Utilities On NEM 3.0

• Effective immediately, we are pausing intake of any new jobs sold without a battery in the Big 3 utilities in California (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E).

• As you know, batteries allow customers to self-consume and maximize their savings, whether configured for arbitrage only or with backup capabilities. Creating solar projects without the critical ability to arbitrage is producing unfavorable savings scenarios and poor homeowner experiences in the long term due to NEM 3.0 rates & billing.

• CARE or Discount plans in the Big 3 can still have Solar Only jobs sold. Also, Solar Only is still fine in NON-NEM 3 utilities, this policy is just referring to the Big 3 when new customers will be affected by standard NEM 3 rates

TLDR: All new jobs in the Big 3 MUST have a battery.  

• Good news: we have more options than ever to sell excellent battery options with great pricing, both for your homeowner's payments and for your commissions! A Request From Gary: Help For Lisa

• You might have heard that I’m helping to raise funds for Lisa Ruchirat Cruz-Lopez, a single mom, who tragically lost her son this last week due to deep depression that led to his suicide. Her deceased son’s girlfriend gave birth to their baby a few days after his passing and feels too young and unequipped to raise the child. Lisa has expressed her desire to adopt their newly born baby and provide it with a loving home.

All NEM 3.0 Enphase Systems are AI Optimized - Resistance Is Futile

• In more good NEM 3.0 news, all homeowners with Enphase systems have been automatically enrolled in a new AI Optimization program!
• You can tell current and future homeowners not to worry or fuss around with settings - the helpful robots are already hard at work for them.
• Under NEM 3.0, the AI Optimization profile optimizes the charging schedule of all Enphase batteries, to avoid import during peak hour import rates as much as possible. This replaces (and improves upon) the previous Savings profile.
• If you or your customers have any questions about the update, reach out to Enphase Customer Support at (510) 972-3525. Here's a quick video from Enphase talking about the update.

CPUC Proposal: "Cut NEM 1&2 Short"

• In less good news, the Public Advocates Office of the CPUC came out with a "fact sheet" detailing the costs that the previous Net Metering 1.0 & 2.0 programs in California are shifting onto non-solar and NEM 3.0 customers (it's a little short on actual data to back this "fact" up). They suggested reducing the length of NEM 1&2 agreements to 10 years instead of 20. Nothing official is coming out of this yet, but you should know it's out there in case it comes up in objections or future policy shifts.
• In short, they're still trying to paint solar as the boogeyman, lurking on roofs in your neighborhood, leeching off your hard-earned dollar, and contributing heavily to rising energy costs.
• The best way to frame this with potential clients, if they're aware or concerned, is pretty simple. Having solar is better than wasting money, and NEM 3.0 was the power companies' idea, so... you might as well take them up on it. Other people who made the jump to solar sooner shouldn't be your concern - watch out for your own pocketbook!

QCell 425W Itty-Bitty Backlog

• We've encountered a brief supply delay for the 425W panels from our partners at QCell. Our standard base panel wattage of 410W will not be impacted.
• We anticipate the premium model should be back within the next two weeks. Because of the short stock-out window, we won't be offering a replacement Premium model for the time being, just to limit confusion. We appreciate your patience at this time

• Dividend requires all borrowers complete a welcome call after M2 approval to validate contact information, confirm the installation is complete, and that the customer understands their loan terms and how to access the Dividend borrower portal.

Easy Project Submission

• In case you missed it, we made a massive enhancement to the New Project Submission process and it's SO EASY! 

• Jobs sold in SOLO, EverBright, or Enerflo will get this link, Quativa and Quickbase coming soon. When you use the link sent to your email, submitting a new job should take you less than 60 seconds if you know what you sold and have everything ready. 

• Even if you're filling out the info by hand through the Hub, it should only take you a couple of minutes. Jobs sold in Sunrun, the Lightreach portal outside SOLO, Quickbase or Quativa will use the link in the Rep Hub, you won't get an automatic email (yet).

Please familiarize yourself with this process, it should be a game-changer. Note that we will no longer allow reps to chat in and have the questions asked and filled out by the ESP agent starting next week - the form is faster, and following the new process will create all-around better experiences.

  No More Jobs Accepted in IID

  • The utility known as IID (Imperial Irrigation District) that covers the southeast corner of California has implemented a solar production threshold that does not account for any shading. This is leading to all solar projects being forced to be undersized for the homeowner. For that reason we are suspending any new solar projects sold in their coverage area to prevent bad homeowner experiences.

Panel Count Increases w/o Resign on Underproducing Lightreach Jobs

• Effective immediately, in order to account for Lightreach production requirements and keep your jobs moving quickly, we will be adding panels to underproducing jobs and moving them forward after 3 business days regardless whether a resign has occurred. We always want to allow you to make how much money you were expecting to, and so we will be giving you a heads up whenever a signed job needs to have one or two panels added in order to meet TPO production requirements, and you can choose to work with the customer on a re-sign. However, in the best interest of customer and partner experience, we will add the necessary panels without changing the customer payment amount, which will impact the base price and have a modest impact on your commission. This isn't a new policy overall - it's how we've operated on Sunrun jobs for years now - but let us know if you have any questions!

  Everbright Requiring Utility Bills for M1 April 1st

• This is a reminder that starting April 1, a homeowner’s utility bill must be uploaded as part of the milestone deliverables in M1. 

  The uploaded utility bill must be from the past 12 months and must show the utility rate, property address, meter number, and utility account number. Please also be sure that any and all names provided in the proposal match what is listed on the bill.

No More 10T: Stacked 5P Only

• As you already know, Enphase released their latest model of battery known as the 5P last year, a modular "stackable" design powered by the great technology they've been working on for years. As such, we are no longer installing any other retired Enphase battery models and only working with increments of 5kWh housed in each 5P battery unit.

  • AB 1999– Places a reasonable cap on residential fixed charges, blocking the $30+/month charges currently on the table at the CPUC.

  • AB 2619 - Currently the language requires the CPUC to revise their net metering tariff to better align with California’s 100% clean energy goals.

  • SB 1374 – Restores the right of consumers with multi-meter properties to self-consume on-site solar energy.

  • AB 2256 – Requires the CPUC to properly calculate all of the values of distributed generation including societal benefits.

  • AB 2054 - Extends to 10 years the time period that CPUC commissioners are barred from employment by a regulated entity after leaving the commission.

  • SB 938 - Prohibits electrical and gas corporations from lobbying with ratepayer dollars.

  • SB 1305 - Requires utilities to procure from virtual power plants to meet resource adequacy requirements.

  • AB 2 - Adds solar panels to the electronic waste recycling program, establishes a recycling fee, and requires an end-of-life plan.

  • AB 1238 - Requires the Department of Toxic Substances Control to make it easier to recycle solar panels in California.

Finance/Lender Announcements

• Goodleap PPW Cap Adjustment - Goodleap is decreasing the price per watt (PPW) cap for PV-only systems from $7.00/watt to $6.50/watt, effective September 18, 2023.
• No New Sunlight Loans - Effective immediately (8.14.23) ESP will not be accepting new projects financed through Sunlight Financial. Existing loans through Sunlight will proceed as normal until or unless future changes are required to protect project fulfillment.
• All Lenders: No "Ghost Adders" - Effective immediately, any contracts that include items ESP is not able to fulfill within our standard Adder List and scope of work will not be accepted. This is per our Lender partners and in accordance with California contracting law, and to promote transparency and proper expectations for homeowners. Our lending partners have raised concerns about inexplicably high-cost systems presented on occasion by a small handful of dealer partners. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Sunrun Announcements

• 3 Months for $3! - The popular Sunrun promo is back through Sept 30th. Eligible customers can get solar for $1 a month for 3 months. Use our Sunrun Proposal Request form
• $500 Referral Promo! - Your customers can get $500 per new Sunrun customer referred! To be eligible to receive the Referral Reward, the Referral must be signed and tagged during the promotional period and the individual(s) must sign a Sunrun agreement during the Promotional Period and receive Sunrun Sign Off to that Customer Agreement by October 31, 2023.

• Battery Add-On Now Available! - We're approved for SHIFT Battery sales & installs through Sunrun! Use our Sunrun Proposal Request form to add a Battery to the customer's project.

SOLO Announcements

• Change Orders - If you are using SOLO for change orders, you MUST notify ESP ASAP! SOLO is not able to send notifications and the change order will NOT occur unless you reach out to ESP Sales Support.

• Dividend Contract Requirements - Dividend is amping up contract requirements effective August 1st 2023. All scope of work must be included in the signed HIA, which includes re-roof and MPU if needed. We must have homeowners re-sign if the scope changes - we can no longer simply take the difference out of commission, for example if there is a re-roof required after Project Acceptance review.
